Challenge
Australia's National Basketball League (NBL) is widely regarded as the 2nd best basketball league in the world, and the league's 'Next Stars' platform is a proven talent pipeline into the NBA (Lamelo Ball, Josh Giddey, Alex Sarr). However, NBL Next Stars lacks recognition in North America and is actively seeking partnerships with leading media outlets and brands to enhance its visibility.
My Role
I helped define the story and value proposition for NBL Next Stars in order to attract media and sponsorship opportunities in North America. I also developed key outreach materials including creds decks, asset maps, and individually tailored narratives for prospective sponsors.
Outcome
The NBL successfully secured a significant OTT broadcast deal with ESPN+ for the North American market. Additionally, efforts are underway to finalize a seven-figure title sponsorship for the Next Stars platform, further enhancing the program’s exposure in the United States.
